Volvo has by now rolled out its entire new 90 series. But while some of the new models have already been made available, it will still be a while before we see the full range roaming American roads. That’s just what we’re looking at here, though.
Spotted undergoing high-altitude testing in Colorado is not just one member of Volvo’s new flagship model line, but the entire range. That includes the XC90 that went on sale last year already, but also the S90 that’s just reaching dealers now, as well as the V90 that won’t be in showrooms until next year, and the V90 Cross Country just unveiled ahead of the imminent start of production.
Along with its increased ride height, the Cross Country variant is distinguished by additional body cladding for a more rugged look. But having been snapped just prior to its big debut, the example pictured here is wearing even beefier bodywork.
Though three examples of the V40 were intriguingly on hand as well, conspicuously absent were any members of the 60 series – no S60 sedan, V60 wagon, or XC60 crossover. Each of those models has been on the market now for over seven years now, and are slated for replacement in the near future as well.
With the 90 series now finalized and the new 40 series soon to follow (with help from parent company Geely), we hope it won’t be long before we see Gothenburg’s mid-range lineup get their long-awaited relief as well.
Hat tip to our reader Brett Borgard for snapping and sharing the shots!
