As the biggest club event of its kind in Europe, and one of the top five classic car shows globally, the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show will open its gates at the NEC, Birmingham, on November 11.

Visitors to the 3-day event will get to see the largest ever display of vehicles from Vauxhall Motors‘ Heritage Center, which is getting ready to celebrate two anniversaries: 50 years since the birth of the Viva HB and 85 years of the Bedford.

Taking the center stage at Hall 5, which will be “easily identifiable by red carpeting throughout“, as the automaker explains, will be the 1970 Mark 1 ½ GT, making its public debut after a ground-up restoration process that took two years. The 46-year old vehicle that sports a Monza Red exterior and features its original Rostyle wheels is believed to have been registered by Vauxhall back when it was brand new.

Joining it on the red carpet will be a 1966 Viva SL, along with a replica of Gerry Marshall’s DTV GT racer, prepped by Bill Blydenstein and put through its paces in the 1971 Osram Saloon Car Championship.

Since the ceremony will also focus on some of the vehicles made by Vauxhall for other markets, the company will bring a Portuguese 1949 Wyvern L-Type, a NorthAmerican 1957 Velox E-Type, and a New Zealand F-Type Envoy to the event.

Last but not least, accompanying the British brand at the NEC will be a total of 13 Vauxhall owners’ clubs, including the Droopsnoot OC, Cavalier & Chevette OC, Viva OC and Cresta OC.
