Volkswagen’s Australian arm has come up with a special edition of the Scirocco R, which marks the model’s retirement in the Pacific country.
Limited to just 150 examples, 30 with a six-speed manual transmission and 120 with a DSG, the coupe allows customers to choose between a Rising Blue Metallic or an Oryx White Pearl Effect paint, joined by the black side mirror casings and black-finished alloy wheels, 19-inch in size.
For an extra $1,750 AUD ($ USD), Volkswagen will throw in a panoramic glass roof, while inside, the limited edition Scirocco R benefits from height-adjustable front sports seats, which lack side airbags, and telling users that this isn’t the average coupe is a special plaque.
Power comes from the same 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, used the standard Scirocco R, which allows it to sprint from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.2 seconds when equipped with the six-speed manual gearbox, and in 6.0 seconds with the six-speed dual-clutch DSG.
Priced from $49,490 AUD ($37,545 USD) for the manual and $51,990 AUD ($39,440 USD) for the automatic, the Volkswagen Scirocco R Wolfsburg will go on sale in Australia starting from November 14 and it’s said to be joined by other performance models next year.
