It looks like BMWs are just as fast on two wheels as they are on four, and no, we’re not talking about the Motorrad division.

Vesa Kivimäki, a Finnish stunt driver, who’s been driving since he was six years old, broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest side wheelie, on August 31st, 2016, in in Seinäjoki, Finland.

Kivimäki performed the stunt behind the wheel of a BMW 330d, fitted with Nokian tires, and managed to achieve 186.269 km/h (115.742 mph). Impressive, especially as there are some cars incapable of going that fast on all four wheels, not to mention on two.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, the tires used were designed by Nokian specifically for this purpose. They’ve been reinforced with the company’s Aramid Sidewall technology, which made them more resistant to wear and cuts.

“I have made earlier attempts to break the record for the fastest car on two wheels, but have not been successful. At some point, I realised that the key to record-breaking speed is to have tyres that are exceptionally durable. Cooperation with Nokian Tyres and Vianor made it possible to break the record,” said Vesa Kivimäki, the holder of a new world record.

So, does this make the BMW the ultimate driving machine? Pretty much, although the German car maker probably had something else in mind when it came up with this slogan.
