A standard Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is capable of rocketing down the quarter mile in an NHRA-certified 11.0 seconds on street tires, according to the manufacturer.

Even though that is supercar levels of performance, one owner in the U.S. recently decided to have his Hellcat upgraded to a frightening 1,000 hp. The resulting quarter mile times are staggering.

On the first run filmed, the driver rockets down the track in just 10.19 seconds at 138 mph (222 km/h). In the next run, it falls to 10.02 seconds and in the third, hits a remarkable 9.79 seconds at 148 mph (238 km/h), putting this Charger on par with the Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1.

Sure, a Charger Hellcat isn’t as unique, valuable or as nice to drive as a hybrid hypercar but it is a hell of a lot cheaper, much more practical and as this clip proves, can be just as fast.

Correction:  an earlier version incorrectly said that the Dodge Charger Hellcat completed the 1/4 mile run in 11.8 seconds.
