If you’re looking to create a drag racer capable of truly ferocious acceleration, chances are adopting front-wheel drive won’t even cross your mind.
However, as this insane Honda Civic proves, sending power through the front wheels can be quite effective, especially if corners aren’t involved.
Powering this Civic is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which thanks to a huge turbocharger sticking out of the front bumper, results in a rather absurd 1,850 hp.
At a recent drag racing event, this culminated in the tiny hatchback setting a new stock chassis front-wheel drive quarter mile record, sprinting down the 1,320 foot drag strip in just 7.6 seconds at 199 mph (320 km/h).
Rather incredibly, such amazing figures come despite the Civic still using a H-pattern manual transmission, rather than a potentially faster sequential shifter.
