If there’s a benchmark out there for straight-line performance in terms of non-hypercar models, it definitely has to be the Porsche 911 Turbo.

The Turbo S of course sits on top of the 911 pile and with 581 PS and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal, it’s easy to understand why it is such an awe-inspiring performer.

While heavier, the Aventador packs more power at 700 PS, though with 690 Nm (508 lb-ft) of torque on tap, it doesn’t quite match the Porsche’s output. Still, on paper, they’ll both hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds, which again, is about as fast as you can be nowadays, excluding the likes of the a McLaren P1/LaFerrari/918 and its rivals – which these two are definitely not.

Without telling you who won this race, we will say that as they flew past the speed trap, the winner was faster by just 1.24 km/h (0.77 mph). Care to guess who that was?
