Having been launched in 2013, it was high time the MKZ received a mid-life update; and it turned out to be a quite comprehensive one, too.

There wasn’t much wrong with the old saloon to begin with, but this is a fiercely contested segment, so Lincoln couldn’t afford to stay complacent, especially in the face of the competition.

Design-wise, the MKZ has adopted the larger Continental‘s more conservative styling, with the all-new grille and headlights being the most prominent change, while the cabin has received a freshening up, too. Plus, this being a 2017 MY car, there’s the latest comfort and safety tech available – depending, of course, on the trim level.

What’s interesting is that Lincoln has dialed back the sportiness not just on the design, but on the suspension settings and, thus, driving characteristics of the MKZ, opting for more comfort and luxury instead. Consumer Reports has given the updated Linc the once over and highlights its advantages and drawbacks.
