The next Rolls Royce Phantom was spotted again in prototype form, roaming the streets with significant less camouflage and with what looks like its production lights in place.

This allows witnessing for the first time most of the new design details of the next big Rolls, like the new front end which now features a visually narrower bumper and the lighting signature from both the LED headlights and taillights.

Rolls Royce has already revealed that the new generation of the Phantom will be based on an all-new aluminum platform which will allow for a significant loss of weight compared to the current model. This new architecture will also be the base of the upcoming Cullinan crossover Rolls Royce is developing.

The other thing we know so far for sure is that the new Phantom will opt of a set of big digital displays on the dashboard, replacing the traditional analog gauges. The setup might remind you that of the current S-Class, with one display sitting directly behind the steering wheel and the other one next to it, providing all the information a chauffeur wishes for.

One of the most noticeable differences between this prototype and the previous one we spotted is the absence of visible exhaust tips. Reports suggest that a V12 powertrain will continue to be present in the range.

Other highlights will include an array of cutting-edge technologies, worthy of one the most expensive vehicles on the planet. This means that the Phantom VIII, as Rolls Royce officially calls the new generation, should come with some sort of autonomous driving features and a complete lineup of active safety and comfort features.

The new generation of the Rolls Royce Phantom is expected to debut in 2018, with the remaining capacity of the current model being enough to satisfy demand well into 2017, according to the British automaker.
