To this day, the Ferrari 458 Italia remains one of the fastest and most spectacular supercars in the world, which makes it a perfect contender for something as unapologetic as the Tesla Model X P90D.
If you recall, earlier this year we saw a Model X P90D lose out to a McLaren 650S in a 1/4 mile drag race, a race which the McLaren claimed with very little time to spare.
The 650S of course is a quicker supercar than the 458 Italia, with more power and a lot more torque to speak of. In fact, we’re talking 650 PS and 678 Nm (500 lb-ft) vs the 458’s 570 PS and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque.
As for the Model X P90D, it’s actually quick enough to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.2 seconds thanks to its Ludicrous mode, and that should put just about any contender on notice.
Yet, the Ferrari is still formidable and would you really feel comfortable betting against it in a straight line drag race with a Tesla Model X? It’s safe to assume that the latter would jump out to an early lead – the real question is can the 458 catch up before they cross the 1/4 mile marker?
You know what to do to find out!
