If you’re currently looking for the best driver’s car money can buy, the track-tuned lightweight Aston Martin Vantage GT8 needs to be on your list of contenders.
Of course, it goes without saying that, one of the things that makes this car so special is that you can skip the seven-speed Sportshift II automatic and go with a six-speed manual gearbox.
Such is the case here where the Vantage GT8 is looking to capture Britain’s Best Driver’s Car crown offered by Autocar. In order to do so, it first has to overcome the likes of the Porsche 911 R, Honda’s NSX, the McLaren 675LT, Porsche 718 Cayman S, BMW M2, Focus RS, M4 GTS, Nissan GT-R and last year’s champ, the Ferrari 488 GTB.
Safe to say, the Vantage GT8’s 446 PS naturally aspirated 4.7-liter V8 sounds absolutely insane on the track, across its entire rev range. It may even help you forget about the 4.4-second 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint time, which is good but not great.
Its top speed however is a healthy 190 mph (306 km/h), which should place it somewhere near the middle of the pack, in regard to the rest of these cars.
The only sad thing is that Aston is building just 150 units, all of which have been sold out.
