Even if Bentley’s Bentayga is considered the pinnacle of luxury SUVs in terms quality and performance, the likes of the Range Rover SV Autobiography should still make for a worthy competitor.
We are, after all, talking about two very expensive models, with the Bentayga clearly “winning” the cost contest, as it would any drag race held on paper – based only on performance figures.
So how did the two stack up in this Auto Express drag race? Well, the Bentley comes in at 608 PS, 900 Nm (663 lb-ft) of torque, which translates to a (manufacturer) 0-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 301 km/h (187 mph). The Range Rover on the other hand is good for 510 PS, 625 Nm (460 lb-ft), is claimed to hit 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and max out at 225 km/h (140 mph).
You might think that’s a rather disturbing difference and that this drag race will predictably end with the Bentayga pulling ahead early and crossing the line first, with plenty of time to spare.
However, we will remind you that the Bentley is a heavier than the Range Rover by 112 kg (246 lbs), so that prediction may or may not come true. See for yourself in the following video.
