Besides the 7-seat variant, which will target the Mercedes-Benz GLS and Range Rovers, BMW‘s upcoming flagship SUV, the X7, will also gain an ultra luxurious model with individual seating for four.

Expected to compete against similar versions from Range Rover and even the Bentley Bentayga, the X7 for four will not only offer more space for the two rear passengers, but will also set itself apart from the seven-seater model with a more upscale cabin, and a tweaked exterior. According to AutoNews, BMW executives said it will be priced under $200,000 and will represent roughly 1 percent of all X7 sales.

Despite being developed at the same time as the Rolls-Royce SUV, the two X7 models will not use the same platform, as they will be based on the 7-Series that will also lend its engine lineup of six- and eight-cylinder units, joined by an electrified powertrain, and possibly, a V12.

The BMW X7 might also add an M or M Performance suffix to its vocabulary, for a high-performance model that will target the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63. As for a rumored five-seat version, nobody outside the company can answer at this point. What we can tell you is that the luxurious SUV will be put together at BMW’s Spartanburg factory from where it will go on sale in the US in early 2019.
