A Buick-badged Chevrolet Volt was recently spied testing on the streets of Chicago and in all likelihood, it is the China-bound Buick Velite.

Details about the China-exclusive Velite first emerged in September following the leak of official images. However, based on this picture from Reddit user Hogbelly, it seems evident that some final testing is being done before the car can hit the Chinese market.

When the Velite does reach China, it isn’t expected to be much more than a re-badged version of the Volt. In fact, the only real differences are expected to be the badges and a set of slightly different bumpers.

Power is bound to come from the same engine as the U.S.-spec Volt, meaning Chinese customers will receive a small 1.5-liter petrol engine pumping out 99 hp and consuming just 0.9 liters of fuel per 100 km.

According to local reports, the model will enjoy its world debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show in December.
