While the 2016 CTS-V has plenty of power and torque at its disposal, the previous-generation SL600 was formidable in its own right.
To make things even more interesting, this SL600 features an ECU tune, pushing its original output to 550 RWHP, which could mean as much as 675 PS at the crank.
The CTS-V on the other hand walks in with 650 PS of its own, which together with the 855 Nm (630 lb-ft) of torque it puts out, allow it to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds before maxing out at around 320 km/h (198 mph).
They also went with a rolling start, so the SL wouldn’t have any issues putting its power down. Overall, the cars seemed pretty well matched, and we do wish the race could have gone on for a while longer, just so we could find out if the trailing car really was coming back to take the lead, as it appears to be.
