Chip Foose has unveiled his ambitious ‘Madam X’ Cadillac build at SEMA with owner and automotive dealership magnate Wes Rydell watching on.

Foose’s Madam X has been inspired by a concept sketch from 1935 created by GM designer Art Ross that was originally commissioned for production. However, plans to produce the car fell through – until now.

Compared to the car sketched in 1935, Foose’s creation is unique on a number of fronts. For starters, it is based around a 1939 Cadillac four-door 60 Special and is now powered by a Corvette LT1 V8 engine mated to the 8-speed automatic transmission of the Cadillac Escalade. Also found beneath the skin is front and rear suspension from the C6 Corvette.

As for the exterior, the car is now a two-door and shorter than the model it is based on. It has also been finished in a classic shade of burgundy and includes a number of distinct styling elements, such as its chrome grille, front bar, rear bar and side skirts.

Speaking about the car, Foose said “It’s truly a pleasure to finally pull the cover off of Madam X and show it to the public and its owner. This was a project of true passion and one that pushed me to my creative limits. I am extremely proud to show it at SEMA 2016.”
