If you’re the type of person who thinks buying an old affordable sports car makes sense, you should remember that there are two sides to each coin.
While an old M-Powered Bimmer such as the E36 or a second-generation Audi S4 are sufficiently affordable nowadays, there’s still the matter of keeping the car in running order and making sure it not only drives well, but that it also looks the part.
Unfortunately, all of that comes at a cost. Aside from basic servicing parts, this particular E36 also required two new shock absorbers (£120), brake pads (£68) and £2,056’s worth of rust repair. After you add all the cheaper parts that needed replacing, you’d still get a grand total of £2,655 ($3,351) – all invested in a car that’s not that highly regarded or sought after in the used car market.
In the end, even the owner goes on to say that if you’re thinking about getting an E36 M3, then you’d be better off with the newer E46 model instead.
