Just seven weeks after Chevrolet set a curious world record for a towing a huge U.S. flag, Ford has swiftly snatched the record with the 2017 F-450 Super Duty.

The record, officially dubbed the ‘World’s Largest Flag Pulled by a Moving Vehicle’, was claimed by Ford on Saturday morning when it completed four laps at Homestead-Miami Speedway while towing a U.S. flag measuring 45 by 92 feet.

Ford opted for its potent 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo diesel V8 for the record which delivers 440 hp and 925 lb-ft of torque. When combined with a goose neck towbar, this means that the F-450 Super Duty can tow up to 32,500 pounds and carry a payload of 7,630 pounds.

Discussing the record, Ford Truck Group marketing manager Doug Scott said “At Ford and with Ford trucks in particular we are used to being number one. Towing the largest banner here today and setting the Guinness World Record in the category certainly fits with our DNA and what we are all about when we talk about Ford trucks and their towing power.

“This is a great accomplishment, another to add to the list of distinctions. Earlier this week we received the 2017 Motor Trend Truck of the Year award so we will add this to the list.”
