No one ever said Ferraris come cheap, and the same applies for optional extras, but inflating the sticker price by 40 percent for what is essentially the same car plus some bells and whistles is really bordering on the absurd.
The MSRP for the 488 Spider, for example, is $280k. Yet this particular owner has managed to bring the total to an incredible $382k.
The Daytona seats for $5k, we can understand. Yes, five Gs for a pair of seats ain’t cheap, but they are an important part of the cabin and a desirable piece come resale time. Moreover, that’s almost reasonable compared to the $7.5k Ferrari charges for some carbon around the vents and the steering wheel plus the LED strip on top.
Or the $2.8k for having that tiny center console in carbon, for that matter. The list is long and the numbers eye-watering, plus we suspect the total sum could get even higher if he weren’t just ticking boxes but went for something a bit more bespoke through the Tailor Made program. But, hey, a man’s entitled to spec his dream car exactly the way he likes.
For the same money, give or take a few thousand, we’d probably check out one of these 458 Speciales instead – but that’s just us…
