Jaguar is going after the likes of the Mercedes C-Class and BMW 3 Series with the arrival of its entry-level XE sedan. Aston Martin isn’t likely to follow suit, but if it did, this is what it might look like.
Theo Chin appears to have based these renderings on the Cadillac ATS, if we had to guess. But more importantly, the design draws its stylistic inspiration from the Lagonda Taraf.
Aston Martin launched the high-end luxury sports sedan initially in the Middle East before expanding its availability elsewhere, based on its long-serving VH architecture and packing its signature 6.0-liter V12.
More accommodating than a Rapide and more expensive than a Rolls-Royce or Bentley, the Taraf finally brought the Lagonda marque out of dormancy, if only on a limited basis (for the time being). A crossover could follow, like the one Aston displayed to mixed reviews at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. But after that, it’s anyone’s guess what Aston might do with its “other” brand.
It would have quite some gap to bridge if it slotted a ~$40,000 sedan below a million-dollar one. But then again, this is the same company that offered the Cygnet, after all. So not much would surprise us at this point.
