Although Spyker didn’t bring anything new at Los Angeles, the Dutch made its presence felt with the C8 Preliator.
Named after the Latin word for “fighter”, this stunning looking machine symbolizes Spyker’s triumph over its bankruptcy. The small Dutch car maker that owned SAAB once managed to come back from the dead against all odds, and the Preliator is their business card.
Showcased first at Geneva, and then again at New York, the Preliator’s attention to details is mesmerizing. For instance, the CNC-machined stainless steel rear lights are made of LEDs (light-emitting diodes) emulating fighter jet afterburners, the brake light has been sculpted into the rear panel, and features small ailerons on the front splitter and side skirts (Ailerons was one of Spyker’s previous models).
Under the hood, there’s Audi’s 4.2-litre V8 engine, used by Spyker in its cars from the very beginning. However, it develops 525hp and can be mated with either a 6-speed manual or a ZF 6-speed auto).
Its U.S. MSRP starts at a whopping $354,900; but how much is too much considering its exclusivity?
