Before dropping the curtains on the Chiron, Bugatti had to make sure that it’s safer than its iconic predecessor, the Veyron. For that to happen, the Molsheim-based car company needed to test several examples for science, which is what we might be looking at here.
Despite the potato-quality photo, there seems to be some damage to the hypercar’s front end, with a good chunk of its bodywork hanging under the wheels. Being towed away signals that its injuries are more than skin deep, as some of its mechanical components were affected.
This story is definitely worth digging into, so we’ll come back with an update if any reliable info pops up.
Update: Bugatti spokeswoman Manuela Höhne confirmed the incident to German magazine BILD: “The driver was unfortunately a little inattentive, which is why the car landed in the road ditch. Fortunately nobody was hurt. “
Thanks to Erico for the update!
