There are two weeks left before the most anticipated motoring show of the year will debut on Amazon Prime, and this is what Clarkson, Hammond, May, and the rest of the team went through in order to make it perfect.

1,474,546,320 miles (yes, 2,373,052,272 km), 14,951 cups of coffee, and 27 cars destroyed – this is the toll the first season took. Of course, these numbers tell half the story, as there’s no saying how many tires got ruined, how many sleepless hours have passed, and how many times they’ve got, ahem, dehydrated.

In a recent interview, Jeremy Clarkson and James May stated that the former show’s stringent health and safety agenda was gone, leaving them with a lot of freedom to express themselves – which may explain the 27 cars destroyed. Over at Top Gear, the three presenters had a habit of destroying things (especially caravans), but they’ve took it to a whole new level with The Grand Tour. Either way, it looks like we’re getting even more explosive action than before.

Regarding the travel distance, it seems that the entire crew collectively drove more than a billion miles. That’s enough to circle the earth, at the Equator, 36,794 times. Is that even possible? And what about James’ tea; how much did he drink?

Joking aside, the numbers are according to Clarkson himself, so don’t take them too seriously… There’s been a lot of build-up for this show, but it will most definitely live up to its hype – with or without these figures.
