Just a little over a month after it went on sale in the United States, the Mazda MX-5 RF, aka the Roadster RF in Japan, has gone on sale in its home market.
The RF sports the same fastback styling and power retractable hardtop that can be opened and closed with ease, and at 3,240,000 Yen ($31,170) for the six-speed manual transmission S grade, it’s a bit less expensive than its North American twin, which can be had from $31,555.
The roadster is powered by a 2.0-liter, SkyActiv-G petrol four-cylinder mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox. Depending on the version, the Mazda Roadster RF can be had with a piano black roof, a choice of six exterior colors and 17-inch, chrome-finished, alloy wheels.
Additionally, it can also be specified with soft Nappa leather, while the most expensive version, the RS, comes with special seats, jointly developed with Recaro, Nappa leather and red accents.
