Most exotic supercars come from one of a handful of European countries, like Italy, Germany, and Great Britain. But there are a handful that hail from other countries, like Koenigsegg from Sweden, Bugatti from France, Spyker from Holland, or Arrinera from Poland.
Poland, you say? That’s right, Poland. As unlikely a location as it may seem, that’s where Arrinera and its Hussarya come from. But to hear company spokesman Piotr Frankowski talk about it in this latest video, the racing-spec Hussarya GT is not without its share of British heritage.
The heritage to which he refers traces back to Eliot Zborowski and his son Count Louis, gentleman racers in the early days of motorsport who were proud of their Polish heritage. It was the elder Zborowski to which the selection of British Racing Green as the national racing color is attributed, and it’s his legacy that Arrinera seeks to tap with the Hussarya.
Though designed in Poland by a Polish company, the vehicle is being built in the UK in Cambridgeshire – just east of Jaguar’s historic home in Coventry.
The Arrinera Hussarya is built around a modular steel spaceframe chassis, with a 7.0-liter LS7 V8 sourced from GM and mated to a Hewland six-speed sequential gearbox. The final power output will depend on the specification and ranges between 420hp to 650hp. Pictured above at Brooklands – the birthplace of motor racing – is the racing version, which has now been confirmed to be joined by a street-legal, track-focused version as well.
According to the company, the race GT3-spec version of the Hussarya GT will make its competition debut in 2017, with the road-legal version to follow on a later date.
