As with the Giulia before it, Alfa Romeo decided to reveal the new Stelvio SUV in range-topping Quadrifoglio guise before any lesser variants.

However, a number of patent images of a base Alfa Romeo Stelvio have surfaced on Auto Italia Evolution, giving us our first glimpse at how the more accessible models will look.

As you’d expect, the same overall design of the Quadrifoglio has been carried through but all of the flared and aggressive parts have been abandoned, including the front and rear bumpers, flared arches and voluptuous rear-end. In their place are more restrained body panels including two simple tailpipes rather than the Quadrifoglio’s four.

It has already been confirmed that the Stelvio will be offered with a 2.0-liter petrol turbo engine for the base and Ti models, alongside the 503 hp, 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6. At this stage, no confirmation has been given about whether the Giulia’s available 2.2-liter diesel four will make an appearance in the Stelvio but chances are, it will.
