Even though this comparison was done from the perspective of a middle-aged buyer, the truth is these cars can be just as different as the people that end up driving them.
You might be tempted to look at Jaguar and scold them for bringing a less agile car to this sporty dog fight, but as you’ll see throughout this Car Advice review, the supercharged F-Type V6 is by no means slow.
On paper in fact, it even has more power than the Boxster S. We’re talking 380 PS and 460 Nm (339 lb-ft) for the Jag, whereas the Porsche comes in at 349 PS and 420 Nm (309 lb-ft). The latter however is faster when maxed out, reaching 285 km/h (177 mph), with the F-Type slower by 10 km/h (6 mph).
Same goes for 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprints where the Boxster S will get there in just 4.4 seconds, and the F-Type in 4.9. To some people, that half a second is nothing to laugh at.
Pricing is also a very important factor, and this version of the F-Type is considerably more expensive than the Boxster S. In fact, US buyers need to spend an extra $14,000 in order to get the Jag, whereas UK buyers need an extra £16,000.
