We hope you like the Ground Tourer’s style cues because you’ll be seeing more of them soon.
A couple of months ago, the Japanese car manufacturer brought the GT-PHEV concept car at the Mondial de L’automobile, showcasing its design as a new direction for future products.
By the looks of it, and according to Autocar, the daunting visuals won’t stop at the Outlander – as initially thought – but make their way through all of Mitsubishi’s line-up. The massive grille, as well as the narrow headlamps, are expected to be the car maker’s greeting card in future models.
The shift will happen by the time the next-gen Outlander is scheduled to debut, after Mitsubishi launches two new crossovers in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Similar design lines have been seen on the eX Concept – one of the concepts rumored to make it into production – as well as on the GC Concept, and on the Outlander Concept-S.
The floating roof is also expected to carry over to the production vehicles – according to Tsunehiro Kunimoto, Mitsubishi’s global design chief.
Even the Ground Tourer’s cabin hints at the direction Mitsubishi will take, concentrating on elegant, horizontal lines to maximize space and visibility.
