While the Mercedes-AMG GT S is a more modern machine than the MP4-12C, it wouldn’t exactly be fair to say that they’re direct rivals.
The McLaren MP4-12C Spider is a supercar in the truest sense of the word. When it came out back in 2011, it could rival the likes of the Lamborghini Gallardo and the Ferrari 458 Italia, whereas the AMG GT S might be newer, but it’s still one rung below.
Without any mods, the McLaren would win easily. It can get from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a little over 3 seconds and max out at 329 km/h (204 mph). The AMG GT S on the other hand can do 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 310 km/h (192 mph).
Well, this particular Merc a Renntech tune that boosts it to 612 HP, pretty much putting it in the same league as a stock MP4-12C Spider with its 616 HP and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. This pretty much levels the playing field, then, and makes the outcome of this drag race nigh impossible to predict.
