One might think that CT Scans and X-rays are only used in hospitals and clinics, but the truth is they also come in very handy in the automotive industry.
One of the automakers using them is Seat, who demonstrates it in a video that sees technicians analyze wheels and various parts that are going to be used in its cars.
“There aren’t any fractures, it’s perfect“, says one man after looking at the screen. “Not many people are aware of the fact that a single tiny pore of half a millimeter across can cause a dent on this wheel, if the driver runs into a curb. Here we make sure that won’t happen“, he adds.
Besides knowing their ways with various car parts, these technicians need to know how to operate the machinery that one doesn’t usually expect to find in these places, and they also have a special license, issued by the Nuclear Safety Council. “We’re engineers, but we also have a special license to work with nuclear energy, which is necessary to carry out this work“, the man states.
