Finding an almost untouched E30 BMW M3, in perfect condition and for a low price is probably as hard as trying to win the lottery after spending your savings on tickets.
However, some fans of the classic Bimmer don’t mind getting their hands dirty in order to create their perfect machine, and if this sometimes means starting almost from scratch, there’s no problem in that, if the shell, engine and gearbox are in a satisfactory condition and the asking price reasonable.
Considering that some rare examples have sold for more than $100,000, paying an estimated €10,000 to €12,000 ($10,550-12,660) for one doesn’t seem that bad anymore, but grabbing this example means paying a trip to Milan, Italy for this weekend’s RMSothebys auction.
The car is offered at no reserve and seems to have been taken care of, receiving a paintjob during the process and stripping its interior to make room for a roll cage. A couple of racing seats with a six-point harness are a must, as are the taillights, and possibly other work that needs to be carried out.
The vendor doesn’t provide any info whatsoever on it, but from what we can see, at the right hands, it could be transformed into a great track day car.
