After the original batch of 1,100 units was sold within weeks of going on sale this summer, the Toyota Camry Special Edition is now coming with an additional 700 units.
Restricted to the Australian market and building upon the same Altise grade, the car adds standard satellite navigation to the equipment list, with SUNA real time traffic updates, 7-inch touchscreen, six-speaker Digital Audio and voice recognition system, for an MSRP of AUD $29,190 (USD $22,327).
Representing a total value of nearly AUD $5,000 (USD $3,800) but priced just AUD $2,700 (USD $2,000) above the regular Altise, the 2017 Toyota Camry RZ Special Edition also benefits from 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels in low-profile tires, a sports suspension package, gloss-black finish for the radiator grille, headlight inserts, side mirror casings, rear diffuser and boot lip spoiler.
The car can be had with two gloss paint colors at no additional cost – Diamond White or Cherry, along with three other shades known as Silver Pearl, Graphite and Eclipse Mica, which are AUD $450 (USD $344) options.
Responsible for lifting the output of the 2.5-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine by 3 HP and 4 Nm (3 lb-ft) to 181 HP and 235 Nm (173 lb-ft) of torque is a dual exhaust system. This upgrade doesn’t affect the car’s Euro 5 emissions standards and fuel economy, which remains at 7.9 lt/100 km (29.77 mpg US).
