Toyota has announced a recall for over 700,000 of the Sienna minivans due to a rather serious issue with the electric system used for its sliding doors.
The Japanese automaker states if one of the doors is impeded when opening, the door’s motor circuit may become overloaded, pulling a fuse. If that were to happen when the door isn’t properly closed, it could open when driving.
In total, there are approximately 744,000 Siennas affected by the recall, built between 2011 and 2016.
Toyota has yet to announced a remedy for the problem, as it itself is still working on one. Nevertheless, recall notices will be sent out shortly to affected owners. In the meantime, Sienna owners might be wise to be extra careful, as this is not something to be taken lightly.
