This is the VW T1 ‘Race-Taxi’, one of the most awesome track builds out there.
Under the familiar shape actually hides a later T3 model, which is powered from an air-cooled 993 Turbo 3.6-litre flat six engine with 530hp and 558 lb-ft (757Nm) of torque.
The chassis was strengthened with a roll cage, the brakes are also from a 993, the gearbox is out of a 996 GT3 and the suspension is a custom coilover item, specifically tuned for the needs of this crazy Bus.
The T3 then had its body cut off and replaced with the classic split-screen T1 shell widened by 21 cm. The interior now features four individual buckets, complete with racing harnesses with the dash also sourced from a 993 Turbo.
Without any doubt, this is a stunning vehicle; and it should stun not a few supercar drivers, at least in a straight line.
