It seems that if you want to brag about your sub-compact premium crossover being able to compete with a genuine supercar from 30 years ago, Infiniti’s QX30S is a much better choice than its Mercedes-Benz GLA sibling.
At least that’s how Motor Trend senior editor Jonny Lieberman sees it, after acknowledging that the GLA isn’t as sporty to drive as the QX30, at least not when both are powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged 208 HP engine.
The video actually starts off with a brief comparison between the QX30S and the GLA 250, however after the winner of this match-up is established, it moves on to the Willow Springs Raceway where Randy Pobst goes on to race it against an 1987 Porsche 928 S4, a car that could go as high as 170 mph (273 km/h) back in the day.
The QX30S, on the other hand, can only go as high as 131 mph (210 km/h), while hitting 60 mph (96 km/h) in 6.6 seconds – fast, but nowhere near any type of supercar, new and old.
Yet, the QX30S performed admirably around Willow Springs, despite the 928 S4 carrying more speed on the straights. Let us know how you feel about the result once you’ve seen the conclusion and also tell us if the QX30 would also be your sub-compact crossover of choice.
