This luxurious Mercedes-Benz convertible is wearing Carlsson Heritage Green, a color that creates a discreet golden shimmer in direct sunlight.
Other exterior highlights are the diamond grille with the Carlsson logo and the 20″ 1/12 EVO wheels which were developed especially for the Diospyros.
Speaking of its name, it’s derived from the scientific name for West African ebony, Diospyros Crassiflora – as Carlsson applied this exclusive wood generously throughout the cabin. There’s also high-quality Vintage Cognac Nappa leather, which according to the tuner creates a “perfect symbiosis” with the wood applications.
Performance-wise, this is an S 500 Convertible which normally packs 455 PS (448 HP) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. Carlsson however have increased the output to 550 PS (542 HP) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft), though haven’t stated whether or not the car is quicker to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) – normally it would need 4.6 seconds.
Prices for the Diospyros start at €214,000 without VAT, but if you really want to go all out with engines and equipment levels, you could get it up to €336,000.
In other words, about the same as you’d spend on a Maybach S650 Cabrio.
