Genesis announced the hiring of the ex-Bugatti designer Alexander Selipanov as their new Chief Designer at the Global Genesis Advanced Studio, located in Europe.
Selipanov, who is also widely known as Sasha, will report directly to Luc Donckerwolke, Head of Genesis Design.
“I am sincerely excited about this opportunity, because it will be a new chapter in my career. As I have been working with well-established brands so far, Genesis is a new and refreshing challenge to me,” said Alexander Selipanov.
“In addition, I am also honored to join this exciting journey, as it is a very rare chance to launch a luxury automotive brand and be part of its history. With growing expectations and curiosity around Genesis, I cannot wait to contribute my expertise and passion to the brand.”
Selipanov earned his bachelor degree in transportation design at the Art College of Design in California before joining the Volkswagen Design Center in Germany. He has participated in exterior design projects for all brands of the VW Group. In 2010 he joined Lamborghini’s exterior design team, helping in creating the Huracan.
In 2014 he was appointed Head of Exterior Design in Bugatti where he penned the Vision Gran Turismo concept and of course the Chiron. Selipanov will join Genesis in January 2017.
