The Gran Turismo franchise has long been at the forefront of virtual racing. And as fantastic as it looks, the next installment looks to be no exception in that regard.
Released during the PlayStation Experience show in Anaheim is the latest trailer for Gran Turismo Sport. Not to be confused with the Maserati of the same name, the game is set for release for PlayStation4 sometime in the new year. That’s later than originally planned, but it looks poised to be worth the wait and take racing simulation to the next level.
The cars, tracks, and gameplay promise to be as jaw-dropping as always, but in developing the new game, Polyphony Digital has focused on several key areas.
One is the engine notes, which already sound better than they have in any previous iteration. The developers have also apparently placed an emphasis on rendering the changing light conditions. The colors are more vivid, the cars (or some of them at any rate) will offer a more immersive cockpit experience – and of course there are more of them, too.
Just check out the two-minute clip and the screen shots below and you’ll see what we mean, and why we’re already getting excited for the next big thing in driving games.
