If there was any confusion about Lamborghini’s recent teaser video, this latest clip clears up any questions and all but confirms that an updated Aventador is just around the corner, set to debut on December 19.

During this latest video dubbed ‘Lamborghini V12: What does it take to be an icon?’, the Italian company looks back at the progression of the Aventador starting from its reveal in early 2011. It then looks at the most important updates that followed shortly after with the one-off Aventador J in 2012 and the SV in 2015.

The clip then ends with a brief look at the updated model, believed to be dubbed the Aventador S and says ‘The ultimate evolution is coming’.

It is widely reported that the Aventador S will be a faster and facelifted version of the brand’s flagship mass-production model, similar to how the Murcielago LP640 replaced the original.

As such, the Aventador S will be adorned in updated body work pinned to be heavily inspired by the SV. It is probable that power from the naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine will rise from 690 hp (700 PS) of the standard model up to nearer the 730-740 hp mark.

Once the ‘standard’ Aventador S debuts, we expect new variants to follow, including a facelifted SV in the next few years.
