Modern cars are built to withstand both extreme heat and extreme cold, but does the same apply to high-performance machines such as the McLaren 570S?
In short, yes, as the Brits have proved in a new video, one that sees their Sports Series range, in the 570S flavor, taken to Ivalo, Finland, at McLaren’s Ice Driving Center, 200 miles (322 km) north of the Arctic Circle.
In temperatures as low as -14 degrees Celsius (7 degrees Fahrenheit), the company’s development driver, Kenny Brack, was in charge of putting a 570S with studded winter tires through its paces on a frozen lake.
It might be the “baby McLaren”, but nevertheless the 570S needs 3.2 seconds to cover the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint thanks to its 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 that churns out 570 PS (562 HP) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque.
