There may be a new generation of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in development, but the current one is still doing good.
In fact, it remains so popular that the car manufacturer has recently delivered the first batch to the Dutch police as part of an agreement signed for 300 vans, prior to which the Sprinter has been thoroughly tested.
“Our experience with various van models from Mercedes-Benz in the past has been very good. Thus, we are looking forward to putting our new Sprinter into service. They are excellent to drive and maneuver. This won us over“, said Director of the Dutch Police Services Center, Gerrit den Uyl.
Finished in white, adorned with red and blue stripes and fitted with sirens, the vans have received the state-of-the-art technical equipment that includes the National Operational Network system, which allows live images to be received directly from a police helicopter.
Moreover, the Dutch police Sprinters are also equipped with the Position Monitoring System that allows officers to communicate with the command center, and the Sound Commander, which comes in handy for crowd announcements up to 500 meters (1,640 feet) away.
