Although the Nissan GT-R is almost a decade old, it still remains one of the fastest and most capable supercars on the planet, able to outperform much more expensive cars.

However, it is no secret that the GT-R relies heavily on computer trickery to make it so fast, which arguably detracts from the overall driving experience. With that in mind, Autocar recently pitted a 2017 GT-R against a brand new Aston Martin V12 Vantage S to discover not only which is faster, but which is the most enjoyable to drive.

On paper, the GT-R has a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder delivering 563 HP and mated to a seven-speed transmission dual-clutch driving all four wheels. The Aston’s naturally-aspirated 5.9-liter V12 pumps out the same 563 HP, but features a dog leg manual gearbox and rear wheel drive.

You don’t have to be a genius to have an inkling of which is going to be the fastest around a track, but the most fun to drive is another matter altogether.
