McLaren’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 is capable of producing a lot more than the 562 horsepower it offers in the 570S. We know that because McLaren uses a higher-output version of the same in the 650S (and everything else it has made over the past half decade). Leave it to Novitec, then, to unlock more of the engine’s potential.
The German tuner has made a name for itself customizing Ferraris (with its Novitec Rosso line), Maseratis (Novitec Tridente), and Lamborghinis (Novitec Torado), and has now turned its attention to Woking’s finest.
That effort starts with the entry-level Sports Series, which Novitec has tweaked to produce 646 hp – about the same as the output from the 650S – thanks to enhanced engine mapping and an Inconel exhaust.
Novitec is also offering a full aero kit developed in a wind tunnel, along with upgraded rolling stock: the vehicle pictured here is wearing staggered MC1 alloys measuring 20 inches at the front and 21 at the back.
The sum total is a junior supercar that can hit 62 from a standstill in 3.0 seconds flat and hustle all the way up to 208 miles per hour.
