Few things could ever be more properly British or more rock n’ roll than driving a Rolls-Royce. Just ask Roger Daltrey, who has just ordered two to be built to his specifications.
The legendary frontman from 1960s rock band The Who is the first in a series of musical icons invited not only to acquire one of the “Inspired by Music” edition Rolls-Royce Wraiths, but commission their own.
The resulting nine “Inspired by British Music” editions will each be entirely unique, reflecting the commissioning musicians’ own character and history. Previewed in the rendering above, Daltrey’s will incorporate his band’s bullseye icon and his trademark mic swing.
The idea was proposed by noted photographer Alistair Morrison when he saw the Inspired by Music Wraith while working on a series of photos depicting British rock icons. Proceeds from each will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Daltrey was so impressed with the undertaking that he’s commissioned a second car together with Mike McInnerney, who did the artwork for the band’s seminal Tommy album. This will be the last of the nine, and will be donated for a charity auction in April 2017 to further benefit the same charity.
