Volvo announced the introduction of the Android Auto integration to the S90/V90 and XC90 models.
In addition to the already existing Apple Car Play, customers will now be able to connect their Android mobile devices directly to the brand’s Sensus infotainment system.
A wide range of Android apps can become available directly on the infotainment’s portrait-oriented display, including Google Maps. Thanks to the shape of the screen, these apps are always displayed in the bottom section, leaving the top part free to display the car’s other main features. The Android apps can also be controlled via the car’s voice control system.
The smartphone integration feature includes a second USB port and is now available on the S90, V90, V90 Cross Country and XC90 as a £300 option in the UK. Existing owners of models built after April 2016 who already have Apple Car Play on their cars will benefit from a complimentary upgrade as part of their routing servicing at an authorised Volvo dealership.
