With the new 90 series now complete, Volvo can now turn its attention to the rest of its aging lineup. The 40 series may be the next to be replaced, but the Swedish automaker is going to need to spend some resources on its mid-range 60 series. And this is what the result could look like.
Sources speculate that, before the S60 and V60 are replaced altogether, Volvo will give those models a facelift to more closely emulate the larger 90-series models. So rendering artist Remco of RM Car Design worked up these images to show what the V60 wagon would look like with some V90-derived styling elements – including more sharply creased sheetmetal and those “Thor’s Hammer” headlights.
Introduced in 2010, the current V60 and its S60 sedan counterpart are at least starting to show their age. Though a complete replacement will be needed sooner than later, a bit of a refresh would help Gothenburg take a bigger slice of the pie shared by the likes of the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class et al.
Expect the updated models to launch sometime in the new year, bringing with it Volvo’s latest powertrain, safety, and infotainment technologies to go with the revised styling.
