The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is an extremely important car for the brand, particularly in the U.S. It’s fitting then that it was revealed at the LA Auto Show but evidently, that wasn’t grand enough for the Italian firm.
To coincide with its public debut, Alfa Romeo recruited a group of artists to paint a huge mural on the side of a building in Los Angeles. Sure, it would have been easier to erect a large billboard but the finished mural is much more special and a fitting way to celebrate the launch of the brand’s first SUV.
So far, only the range-topping Stelvio Quadrifoglio has been (officially) revealed. Just like its Giulia sibling, it uses a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine delivering 503 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, allowing the SUV to accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds and on to a 177 mph (284 km/h) top speed.
According to Alfa, the Quadrifoglio will be the fastest production SUV to ever lap the Nurburgring.
Beyond the V6, the only other engine confirmed for the model is an all-aluminum 280 hp 2.0-liter turbo petrol.
