The Porsche 911 may be over 50 years old and, following traditional automotive logic, should have been ditched decades ago. However, the rear-engine sports car is still very much alive and kicking and, as Chris Harris’ latest review of the facelifted GT3 shows, the German brand continues to build some of the finest sports cars ever.
Revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, the facelifted 991.2 generation GT3 receives a new naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine, and while it may have the same capacity as the 911R, Harris says that it is significantly more impressive.
The biggest headline of the updated GT3 is that it is now available with a six-speed manual transmission, fixing a major beef Porsche fans had with the previous, PDK-only model. Unfortunately, the test car Harris jumped behind the wheel of had the revised seven-speed PDK transmission, but even so, most of the key updates to the car, including its revised chassis and improved brakes, can be explored and reviewed.
