A road rage incident took place last weekend in Hialeah, Florida, when two men were caught on camera fighting in the street.
Luckily, police was at the scene as the man with the baseball bat, 24-year old Hector Herrera was trying to hit his victim, 50-year old Jairo Linarte.
The video starts off with Linarte driving his truck into Herrera’s car, after which both men begin fighting, one of them having the advantage of wielding what could be considered a lethal weapon.
According to Local 10 News, it all started when Linarte didn’t let Herrera change lanes. Linarte was then blocked by Herrera, who got out of his car and smashed the other man’s right side passenger window.
“The first thing that came to my head was to grab the bat and go and fight,” said the 24-year old Herrera, who was later arrested on an aggravated battery charge and released on bond. He did seem remorseful though, stating “I would say to him, ‘Hey, I’m sorry for this situation.’ We both don’t want to be in (these) kind of situations because this is no good for nobody.”
Linarte, however, whose arm is now in a sling, feels lucky not to have been injured worse after getting struck in the right shoulder with the bat.
“I tried to save my life, tried to get out from that situation,” stated the 50-year old man.
