Yes, we know that Renault have an entirely new Megane RS coming out, but the A110 is hotter, and it also marks the return of the iconic ‘Alpine’ moniker.
Presented at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the brand’s challenger to the likes of the Porsche Cayman and Alfa Romeo 4C is not ready to hit dealers just yet, as the French continue to test it on the Nurburgring.
Seen here is a camouflaged prototype, the A110 sports an aluminum platform and body, with a mid-mounted 1.8-liter turbocharged mill feeding 247hp and 236lb-ft (320Nm) of torque to the rear wheels, through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Tipping the scales at 1,080kg (2,380lbs) in its basic form, the new Alpine A110 needs just 4.5 seconds to reach 62mph (100km/h), and will keep going up to an electronically capped top speed of 155mph (250km/h).
Expected to hit the market later this year, the French ‘Berlinette’ will be available in a limited Premiere Edition initially, which will be made in just 1,955 examples, all of which have been already spoken for.
